Pink Cages: Color Varieties, Origin

Alongside blue, pink cages are probably the easiest cages to find out there. Since pink is such a popular color, a lot of manufacturers use it to make cages. The color pink on bird cages comes from the finish coating and it’s almost always a powder coat finish. Colors can vary anywhere from magenta to baby pink.

Decor Cages

There are plenty of options out there categorized as birdcages but only because they look a certain way. These are usually going to be round, have huge wire spacings, and are also going to be too small to house any bird inside safely.

Shades Of Pink In Bird Cages

When it comes to pink shades of the cages for birds, there are too many to count and most manufacturers classify their cage color as simply pink. It has to be distinguished nonetheless and the most popular colors you’ll get with these are pink, rose pink, fuchsia, baby pink, hot pink, and magenta. Hot pink and magenta are much stronger visually.

Realizing Whether A Pink Cage Can House Birds

Not all pink cages are meant to house birds so it’s important to know the difference between the two. Focusing on all the things listed should lead you to a bird-safe and functional cage.

Body Shape

The focus would be getting a rectangular or square-shaped cage. In the case of the cage’s top, you can have arched tops, dome tops, victorian style tops, and many others but the cage body should be square most of the time or at least have corners like hexagonal cages.

Coating Finish

We already said that they are what makes the cages pink. Not only that but they also help protect the building material from rusting. You’ll have to perform finish maintenance at some point, especially if it’s a big bird cage that’s going to get bullied a lot.

Build Materials

You’ll want to focus on metals that aren’t easy to bend or rust. Wrought iron and iron would be optimal while aluminum and stainless steel are better but they never usually come coated with a finish since they don’t need that rust protection. Put simply, you won’t find these cages being colored pink.

Small Cage Abilities

For starters, small cages are economical and will have you saving money even though your bird will have to get a lot of out-of-cage time. They’re the easiest to find colored pink as well. Since they’re light and small, they can commonly be hung someplace or even carried and used as travel cages.

Large Cages

You’ll have the most difficulty finding larger pink cages made for housing medium and large birds so anything above 20-in in length and width. Most of these are going to be small economical cages, usually made with a plastic bottom.

Wire Construction

We’d say that about 95% of these cages are going to be made with some form of wire. We’d definitely recommend going for that sort of cage but you need to watch out for spacings between the wires too. Smaller cages are going to have up to 0.5” wire spacing, medium cages up to 0.75” and larger cages up to 1.5”.

Applying A New Cage Finish

It makes sense that the finish coating on a cage will wear out after some time. When that happens you’ll want to perform maintenance and repaint the cage to keep it from rusting and corroding. We wouldn’t recommend doing it on any of these cages since they can easily be replaced by another cheap one.

Supplies And Process

To repaint a birdcage successfully you’ll need a few things. They are cleaning cloths, sandpaper, wire brush, and bird-safe paint. Any metal area needs to be freed of rust if it has it and old paint. It also needs to be clean and smooth. For this process, you’ll use a wire brush and sandpaper. After that’s done, it’s time to wipe it clean with cleaning cloths.

Primer And Paint

Before Actually painting the cage, we suggest you use a primer coating. After that, you can start painting the cage with an artist’s brush, spray paint it on, or whatever method you prefer. We can’t stress enough how important it is to get bird-safe paint because very commonly, regučar paint is going to be toxic to birds.

To Sum Up

If you’d prefer to get a cage and not actually have to repaint it, then we’d definitely recommend you to get the Prevue Pet Bird Cage. It features an intresting multiple roof design and a handle for easy relocating. The main rule we had when choosing the cages to review was to check out the color and only if they were safe enough for birds did they end up on this list.
